Anchored in Christ
Beloved, how often do we allow the storms of life to cloud our vision and shake our faith? We walk with Jesus, trusting in His promises, yet when trials arise, we sometimes forget who is in control. Some believe that following Christ means a life free of trouble, but even His disciples—those who witnessed His miracles firsthand—faced storms.
In Mark 4:35-41, the disciples found themselves caught in a violent storm. The wind howled, waves crashed against their boat, and fear overtook their hearts. In desperation, they cried out, *"Master, carest thou not that we perish?"* (Mark 4:38). Jesus, unshaken, rose and rebuked the wind, saying, **"Peace, be still."** Immediately, the storm ceased, and there was a great calm.
The disciples’ fear was natural, but Jesus questioned their faith. How often do we do the same—allowing fear to overtake us instead of running to the One who calms the storm? I’ll testify—I am guilty, and you are not alone. The problem is not that fear arises; the problem is when we dwell in it, forgetting that our help comes from the Lord.
I have come to realize that knowing God’s promises and applying them in real-life moments are two different things. It amazes me how quickly I declare, *"The Lord said it, so He will do it,"* yet when trials come, my initial reaction is still worry. But here’s the truth: No one is exempt from life’s storms. Even the strongest believers have moments of doubt. What matters is that we do not stay there.
So, no matter what storm you are facing today, remember who is in your boat. Do not be consumed by worry or throw a pity party in the midst of the waves. Instead, turn to Jesus—your source of peace. Speak His Word over your situation and trust that He is able to bring calm to the chaos. For with God, **nothing is impossible**!
Prayer:
Lord, in the midst of life's storms, help me to trust in You. Remind me that You are always with me, and Your peace surpasses all understanding. Strengthen my faith so that I may stand firm, knowing that You are in control. In Jesus' name, Amen.
