Living for Christ: A Call to Holiness

As followers of Christ, our purpose in life is to share His love and truth with the world. Jesus' love is not exclusive—if He saved us, He wants to save others too. Yet, the world often tells us we can live however we want and still follow Jesus, but that is not what Scripture teaches.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NLT) clearly warns us about the works of the flesh:

"When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God."

God calls us to holiness. It is not enough to simply claim His name—we must live according to His will. Jesus warns in Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV) that not everyone who calls Him “Lord” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Some will be shocked to hear Him say, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

But there is hope! God’s grace is available for those who truly repent. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) gives us a promise:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

A Call to Prayer

Lord, today I pray for those who are lost, for those who do not yet see Your truth. Remove the scales from their eyes and draw them close to You. Help us all to walk in holiness, to turn from sin, and to live in a way that honors You. Send Your people into the world to share Your love and reach the lost. May we live in a way that reflects Your glory.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
